Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals
The Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals is awarded to recognize the accomplishments of an individual or individuals in the field of offshore technology. To be eligible for nomination and consideration by the awards committee, an individual shall have made significant achievement in, or contributions to, any field of offshore technology. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Contributions to the knowledge and literature of offshore technology;
- The design or invention of equipment, tools, or technical services;
- Humanitarian, safety or environmental efforts;
- Outstanding leadership; or
- Outstanding service to governments, companies, and organizations.
OTC Asia 2018
Simon Ong for his contributions to the offshore sector. During his career, he advocated a regional engineering headquarters in Kuala Lumpur for Shell's Project & Technology business, which paved the way for high-value careers for young individuals in technology and innovation, providing technical solutions to the oil and gas industry and managing projects from design, fabrication to start-up. Ong also spearheaded the enetry into the deepwater arena for Malaysia and the region by delivering Gumusut-Kakap and Malikai.
OTC Asia 2020
Kevin Owens for his outstanding and unique achievements, and extensive contributions to the industry throughout his 37-year career spanning 6 continents and 9 countries. He showed remarkable leadership across operational excellence, ensuring personal and process safety, reliability, maintenance, production, and financial results. Owens also led efforts to safely and reliably startup five new LNG trains, two domestic market gas installations and the world's largest CO2 sequestration project located in Australia.
Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, Organisations and Institutions

- Engineering or scientific knowledge which has contributed to the development of offshore resources.
OTC Asia 2018
PETRONAS in recognition of their ground-breaking PFLNG Satu project. PFLNG Satu is the world's first floating Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) facility, which unloacks small stranded gas fields which were previously uneconomical to monetise. PFLNG Satu completed commissioning and achieved its first cargo in April 2017, successfully proving the concepts, technology and processes used to adapt natural gas liquefaction for an offshore environment.
OTC Asia 2020
Woodside Energy for its trailblazing Greater Enfield Project, Australia's largest oilfield development in operation. The prjoject also currently holds the world record for horizontal subsea water injection well and the world's first pipeline buoyant crossing of a seabed canyon. With zero lost work cases over 1.7 million work hours on the mobile offshore drilling unit, offshore installation vessels and pipelay vessel.

Datuk Abdullah Karim for his outstanding leadership and key role in delivering the PFLNG Satu project.
Michael Utsler for his achievements as a technical pioneer, inspiring leader and dedicated mentor. Some of Utsler's achievements include championing LNG as a marine fuel and serving as President of the BP Gulf Coast Restoration Organisation.
OTC Asia 2020
Phongsthorn Thavisin for his outstanding leadership and volunteerism within the industry, as well as, his lifelong commitment to reshaping Thailand's energy industry through technological innovations and operational success.
Zhu Weilin for his significant contribution to the China offshore industry, as one of its pioneers; as an explorer, developer, visionary leader and scholar; as well as for his outstanding knowledge of regional geology and petroleum systems.

OTC Asia 2020
Dato' Mohamad Idris Mansor for his incredible achievements, specifically in establishing and growing PETRONAS Carigali, the E&P operations arms of PETRONAS, and his tremendous impact on the oil and gas industry in Malaysia and the region. Dato' Idris was instrumental in advancing the energy industry through his guidance, leadership and volunteerism with the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
